Petr Cech refuses to rule out Lampard stay

Chelsea no.1 Petr Cech has refused to accept that Frank Lampard has no chance of being offered an extension to his contract, despite reports suggesting he has been told to leave.

Lampard has been in fine form for the Blues in recent weeks, scoring 5 goals in his last 7 games.

Despite his recent form, reports emanating out of the Bridge suggest the England veteran’s future has already been decided, with Roman Abramovich more than happy to let the 34 year-old go.

Cech said: “There is still six months to go until the end of the season and we will see then whether he stays or not.

“If he keeps playing like that then obviously he will keep asking about an extension.

“He’s been here a long time and seen good and times. That shows the loyalty of the player.”

The Czech keeper added: “He might not play every game but when he plays he has been fantastic. At Stoke Frank could have had another two goals.”

Franky could have scored a hat-trick in the weekend’s game away at Stoke, but only managed to net a second-half penalty in another dominant display by the Chelsea legend.

Rafa refused to single out the experienced midfielder for praise, saying: “It’s not fair. I think the rest of the team is doing a great job.

“Frank is a great player but we have to praise the rest of the players at the same time.”

I hope the press are getting this all wrong. I’m glad that I am yet to get word that Lampard’s agent has been in talks with any clubs, which leads me to think that he is concentrated on his football for us. The ideal professional, that Roman would be stupid to allow to leave.
