PSG make formal approach to top Chelsea target Pep Guardiola

Paris Saint-Germain are set to provide Roman Abramovich with his toughest challenge yet as he tries to tempt Pep Guardiola to Chelsea.

Blues owner Abramovich is determined to make Guardiola his next manager when the former Barcelona coach returns to the game after a year off.

PSG are reported to be losing patience with Ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian has guided his side into the knockout stage of the Champions League but sit fourth in Ligue 1, five points behind leaders Marseille.

Guardiola, who has also been linked with Manchester rivals United and City, insists he will not make any decision on his future until the New Year but sources close to PSG claim he has been approached by the club.

The Spaniard already has connections with the Qatari Royals through their sponsorship of Barcelona.

Jose Mourinho, another former Chelsea boss, is also on PSG and Chelsea’s radar but he wants to return to the Premier League when he leaves Real Madrid.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s name has also been mentioned in connection with a move to the French capital but Guardiola is the top target.

I hope Roman convinces Jose to make a spectacular return. Pep did an incredible job for Barca but the Spanish league is played in a completely different tempo, and the similarities are slim.
