There are two notable absentees from Chelsea’s 26 man touring party in the Far East, and they are Ramires and David Luiz who have been in the Brazilian squad at the Copa America in Argentina.
They were expected to be in Argentina for a little while yet as they were strongly fancied to beat Paraguay in their quarter-final match on Sunday. But amazingly Paraguay defeated Brazil on penalties after after 120 minutes football failed to produce a winning goal.
In an even more bizarre penalty shoot-out, which Paraguay won 2-0, Brazil failed with all four of their kicks, while Paraguay scored two of their three. Midfielder Ramires played the full match, and did not take a penalty, while Luiz was an unused substitute.
There has been calls from some quarters that the pair should join up with the rest of the squad as new manager Andre Villas-Boas puts them though their paces in searing heat.
The pair will not be joining the rest of the squad on tour though, instead they will remain at home for a well deserved rest, but when the players return to Cobham they will join then for the remainder of pre-season training.
Good in principle you need to rest busy players especially who involved in Copa America
I surport the idea. They need to rest en get some freshnes.
From now henceforth, The ‘Blues squad’ will continue being called “THE UNTOUCHABLE” as stated by ‘Don AVB’ – which I often call him. The press will continue calling us that name untill we win the UEFA CL in May 2012.
It’s a revelation,
just start watching.
Yap great idea but plìz make some new signings two wingers and nasri as lampards replacement
we wont be the same
resting luiz and ramires for the asia tour after featuring for brazil in the copa america is a good one for AVB.chelsea should try and sign modric and sniejder this summer, our midfied creativity is too depleted.if we have any chance of playing like barca we need happening midfieders in modric and sniejder and skilfull wingers like alexis sanchez,di maria, neymar or young belgian wizkid kevin de bryne.
