Ranieri has recently said that he doesn’t think that Chelsea will win the Premier League, but the comments are not out of bitterness towards his former club or because he hopes Ancelotti fails. In fact Ranieri thinks Abramovich should stick with Ancelotti if they want to win more titles in the future.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Ranieri said: “I don’t know if he has to win the title to stay at Chelsea. I think Ancelotti is doing a very good job – you can’t win everything every year”.
He continued: “Last year, he won the Double. Nobody had done the Double at Chelsea before. Ancelotti is a great coach – he has proved it over the years. I hope he is given the chance to stay at Chelsea and win more trophies in the future”.
When Ranieri was in charge of the Blues he managed to guide them to second in the Premier League and to the semi-final of the Champions League. However this was not enough for new owner Roman Abramovich and he was sacked.
Ranieri lost his job managing Roma back in February and has mentioned he would like to manage in the Premier League again. He said: “I love the English Premier League. There are a lot of good champions. A lot of good clubs. If there is a good job, I will come back”.
Chelsea face Manchester United on Sunday. With just three games to go the match could be a deciding one, although United arguably have two easier opponents for their final two games.
