Real Madrid Set To Sign Chelsea Star – Reports

Club Atletico de Madrid v FC Barcelona - La Liga

Chelsea on loan goal keeper Courtios have been linked with a move to Spain for like forever which is as a result of having plied his trade in the Spanish capital for the last 3 yrs. In Spain he has matured from just a young goalkeeper with some potential to one of the best in the world in just less then 3 seasons.

He has been linked with a permanent stay Athletico Madrid and Barcelona but now we have a new twist as it appears Real Madrid have joined the pursuit or rather are winning the race to sign Courtios. According to reports from Spain led by a Spanish radio El Larguero, Courtios is set to join Real Madrid in 2016 when his contract with Chelsea expires. Some news outlets went as far as saying he has signed a pre-contract with the nine times European champions.

It is an open secret that Chelsea have no desire to sell Courtios who at 21 is proving to a great world cup. It is also very well documented that Courtios wants to be the first choice goalkeeper at Chelsea which won’t come easy. Being a Chelsea fan myself, I don’t see a deal happening and I also doubt Chelsea will be able to keep both Courtios and Cech at the same time and the worst that I for see here is another loan deal.

There hasn’t been such a fast rise to prominence by a goalkeeper since Buffon and Casillas both of whom are legends at their various clubs and that is what Chelsea currently has in their hands and I honestly doubt they would let him go.

Chelsea should tie Courtios down to a long and lucrative contract. Given that Barca have already reach an agreement for Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Athletico’s reported interest in Mandanda, I think it’s safe to say, they’ve both realised Chelsea reluctance to sell won’t change. Real Madrid should do the same and fish elsewhere.
