Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has described the offer for the Croatian midfielder Luka Modric as farcical. He has once again stated that Tottenham are not willing to sell their midfielder and that Chelsea’s offers will continue to be refused.
According to the Metro Chelsea offered Tottenham £22 million for Modric and Redknapp reacted by saying: “I was surprised by the figure. It’s a farcical bid. If they’re going to make an offer, make an offer, but £22million for Luka Modric is ridiculous”.
Harry Redknapp refuses to be drawn into speculation about what the player is worth simply stating that Modric is going nowhere. He said: “We wouldn’t put a valuation on him. He’s such a fantastic player, we don’t want to sell him. He’s up there with the very best players in the Premier League and I think he can play in any team in the world. We don’t want to lose him. We need to keep our best players”.
Chelsea have been looking at several midfielders including Javier Pastore as they look to reinvigorate their squad with younger players. Roman Abramovich wants to give new boss Villas-Boas all he needs in order to finally win the Champions League. Although no big signings have been made so far it is only a matter of time before a big name arrives at Stamford Bridge.
