The rumours have kicked in again. This time, respected journalist and an authority in Spanish football, has claimed Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich will do everything in his power to bring Pep Guardiola to Stamford bridge. Manchester City are thought to be front runners for his signature has he has close allies as top officials at the club. Abramovich’s entry will up the ante in the race to get one of the best managers around.
Since the announcement that the current Bayern Munich coach will leave the role at the end of the season, speculation has reached fever pitch over what his next managerial move will be. Bayern have moved swiftly to replace the catalan and have announced that three time UEFA champions league winning coach and former AC Milan player, Carlo Ancelotti will be taking the reins at the Alllianz Arena.
Though Chelsea have announced Guus Hiddink as the boss till the end of the season, he is not in the running to take up the role on a permanent basis. Chelsea have had a rough season, picking up only five wins in seventeen matches. This led to the dismissal of coach Jose Mourinho from the Chelsea dugout.
Abramovich is a known admirer of Pep Guardiola. It has been the wish of the Russian to see the club he acquired in 2003 from Ken Bates play beautiful football but this has not really materialized even though he has changed managers severally. If he finally gets his man, he may finally live the dream.
