Southampton has been a surprise team in the EPL this season, the team has been impressive, and are likely to finish 7th or 6th position on the log table when the league’s curtain is finally drawn. This means they will be at the Europa league next season, a feat the Saints were close to achieving last season when they placed 8th overall, just two seasons after coming back from a 7-year relegation period. One of the key players that has helped them achieve such results is England’s Nathaniel Clyne. The 24 years old right back has been on solid constant form this season in all his 30 league outings. But like it is said, all good things come to end, and the former Crystal Palace’s Player of the Year seems to be nearing exit away from the Saints Mary stadium. His contracts expires by next season, and Premier League clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea are leading in the race to get him on their side.

Clyne looks forward to playing in the Champions League, and a £25million offer from the EPL winners of the season, Chelsea F.C won’t be readily turned down by the player. Mourinho is bent on improving the quality of his current squad, and having made mentions of signing more great players next season, and with the special one’s eyes on Clyne, who is a favorite of his, the player might just be adorning the blues Jersey come next season. Although Manchester United has also been keen on bringing the player to Old Trafford for the replacement of a likely-departing Rafael da Silva, but Chelsea hopes to hijack the deal and have him with them. Southampton however hopes to extend his contract in order to get a maximum value for him in the coming transfer windows.
