The 45-year old Argentine has had a fruitful four years in charge of Atlético winning the Europa League, Spanish La Liga and the Copa Del Rey as well as reaching the final of the 2014 UEFA Champions League, which they lost 4-1(AET) to city rivals Real Madrid.

Simeone, who has a £15m release clause, is willing to speak to Chelsea about joining them in the summer. Though he doesn’t understand English, it is believed communication won’t be an issue as his right hand man, German Burgos, can speak English thus making the task of communicating the manager’s ideas to the players easier.

Diego Simeone is widely regarded as one of the best young managers in world football and his Atlético Madrid side are currently sitting joint top of La Liga alongside Barcelona having won their last five games in the league ahead of the next game at Malaga. They will also face Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven and Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Champions League Round of the 16 and the Quarter-finals of the Copa Del Rey respectively.
