Roman Abramovich spends $47,000 – on lunch!
I just found this interesting story about Roman Abramovich popping out for lunch with his girlfriend in New York, and splashing out $47,000 for a meal and two bottles of wine!
This is how it was reported on the Daily Entertainment blog in New York: Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich dipped into his bottomless wallet on Friday, to splash out a small fortune on a New York lunchdate with his girlfriend, socialite fashion designer and art mogul Daria Zhukova.
The Chelsea FC owner – the World’s 51st richest man, with a fortune of $8.5 billion – spent $47,000 on a boozy lunch at Upper East Side hotspot Nello.
Two thirds of the huge sum was spent on two $15,000 bottles of wine, which were presumably drunk by Abramovich alone, as his 28 year old partner is heavily pregnant.
But it’s mere pocket money for Abramovich, the owner of the world’s largest yacht, a fleet of private jets and his own personal army.
How the other half live eh? He certainly looks in the pics as if he has had a couple of bottles of wine, but at £10,000 EACH! (Is that someone looking for an autograph in the background?)
I would expect to be more than pleasantly inebriated if i spent that much!

This story was carried on BBC News yesterday, but the BBC also quoted a spokesman for Roman Abramovich as saying that the real figure was subtantially less than $47,000. Maybe he gave a generous tip 🙂
Its funny you should say that. I have just this second read a story that says it was $35,000 plus a $12,000 tip!
