It is being widely reported that Chelsea could decide to sign up the Monaco-loaned striker. Jose Mourinho and his ways right? They have joined the race with Liverpool in a bid to earn the Columbian’s signature. Falcao is (was?) a great striker no doubt. 228 goals in 380 matches till date isn’t a feat any striker can boast off, and four out of those goals came against Chelsea during the Europa finals back in 2012 – enough for them to lose the cup.
But this isn’t the same Radamel Falcao Atletico Madrid once boasted of; he hasn’t scored more than four goals since appearing for Manchester United during the summer till date. United is ready to let go, but Falcao has little interest in returning to France. And once more, the Blues are planning to sign him after having failed once.
The future of legendary striker, Didier Drogba, at the club doesn’t look certain as he is way past his prime and might be hanging his boots soon. Remy is finding it hard to adjust to life in England and Diego Costa remains Injury-prone. Chelsea would definitely add to their attack squad this summer and it seems they have an eye on the former River Plate striker.
Manchester United are rejecting any opportunity to retain him, he hasn’t performed up to expectations (no thanks to a pre-world cup injury). But the South American might just be adorning the blues colours next season. It won’t be right to conclude that he will turn out to be a flop in Chelsea; at least he scored a brace during Columbia’s friendly last month. The Mourinho Magic might just work out well on him. He might have found it hard adjusting to life in Manchester, but London could turn out a blessing. Only time will tell.
