SHOCKING Development Could See Chelsea Sign Englishman For £25m

Raheem Sterling

According to dailymail, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal target Raheem Sterling could force his way out of Liverpool by buying out his remaining contract using a relevant premier league laws against Liverpool. According to the paper, this development could see interested clubs such as Chelsea having to pay as little as £25m to acquire the English international.

This is because there is a premier league law that allows players who play in the premier league to buy out the last year of their contract by paying their parent club the exact amount they would have earned over the remaining contract. This means for instance if a player earns £150,000 per week and he has only 1 year left on his contract, he will pay his parent club £150,000 x 52. This according to the daily mail Liverpool may try to avoid by selling the player for as little as £25 million in the summer or lose him for £1.7 million if the player chooses to go the route of buying out his contract.

Liverpool had insisted they will not be forced to sell the player and are still negotiating with his representatives however Liverpool may be forced to reconsider their initial stances should the player’s legal team decide to use the premier league laws.

Should Sterling be willing to burn his bridges with Liverpool fans, he will have to pay Liverpool £1.7 million but he can easily recoup that investment by getting a big sign on fee with other clubs. And with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all interested, you can be rest assured that the youngster will be making way more than he currently makes at Liverpool which is reportedly put at £35,000-a-week.

Liverpool had offered the player a new contract which would see him earn £100,000 a week which is a significant increment on his current £35,000 a week deal but the player and his advisers have rejected the offer demanding for as much as £150,000 a week. This according to reports the player and his agents believe is what they can get with other clubs.

On Chelsea view point, it will be interesting to have Sterling with us. Not only for what he will contribute to the team on the field of play but for the fact that signing him will annoy Liverpool fans. Should Chelsea sign the player, it will be a double edged sword for the blues. He will significantly improve the team and weakness one of Chelsea’s rivals – Liverpool.
