Should Chelsea pay £30m for Kaka?

Real Madrid are prepared to offload Brazilian playmaker Kaka at a cut-price, according to sources close to the club.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder, who was also once crowned World’s Best Player and European Player of the Year, was bought from AC Milan 2 years ago at a hefty price of £59 million. However, the talented player has been undergoing a torrid time at the Santiago Bernabeu, where playing chances were limited due to a long list of injuries.

Speculation has it that Madrid are willing to let Kaka go at a cut-price of £30 million. Given his age and being injury prone, this is perhaps the only chance for the Spanish giants to recoup their losses and reinvest their money elsewhere.

This piece of news certainly came at a perfect time for Chelsea. Their recent form has been far from satisfactory, suffering defeats in the hands of Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool and just recently, Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. And with Fernando Torres having a barren run, Didier Drogba ageing and Nicolas Anelka being left on the bench, the purchase of Kaka could possibly rejuvenate the Chelsea strike-force, not only as being a spark that could finally convert the possession into goals, but also by being a team player. Given Kaka’s prolific record over the years, the £30 million price tag is certainly one to consider about.

Despite his past track record, however, Kaka’s injuries will certainly be a point to take note of. Although talented, I don’t really feel that the Blues should buy him. £30 million for an injury-prone attacking midfielder? I think not. The risk is too high and costly. Kaka is an established player in the Footballing scene, with an established presence in Real. But with this comes yet another enormous ego that has to be appeased and satisfied at the Bridge. With the heaps and mountains and oceans of egos amongst the Chelsea squad, Kaka’s addition would add yet another striking problem for Villas-Boas, who already has problems handling the squad rotation.

Villas-Boas currently faces pressure from upwards to give more starts to the beleaguered and overpriced Fernando Torres, hoping that he could finally add to his dismal single-digit goal count at Chelsea, and thus his tactics of trying to introduce Torres as a “Impact” substitute could mean that there would be more problems caused by the pressure and the internal conflict within the club. With the potential arrival of Kaka, there could only be more confusion and competition within the squad, and with out of favour Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka on the bench waiting for a start, and with Drogba recently featuring for Chelsea, scoring a goal at Leverkusen, there seems to be no pressing need to sign Kaka.

If Chelsea buy this injury prone, past his best player, I honestly think I will lose faith in the manager and the behind the scenes team. We have Plenty of past their sell by date players. Stop buying has beens and take a risk on some of the young talent around in their early twenties.

Kaka does not have ‘an enormous ego’. He is in fact incredibly humble. He would be an asset not just on the pitch but in the dressing room.

I think this story is made up anyway. Madrid can’t want to sell him now, he is over his long term injuries & getting his form back, he’s been Man of the Match twice this season so far already.

Kaka loves Madrid and never wanted to leave even when it looked as if his role was to be a super-sub or continually rotated.

Yes, he’s be great but no, I don’t think he’s coming.

kaka is worth than that, and real would be stupid if they let him go now. he has proved in the last few games that he is still the talented, influencial player he has always been. I can’t see real beating barca without Kaka. Osil is good, but he seemed lost in all the past confrontations with Barca. you need an experienced, and fast player like Kaka to help Ronaldo. If Chelsea get him…it would a wonderful addition. He still has 5 good years to play and make a difference.
