Chelsea’s striker Daniel Sturridge seems to think that Chelsea is not out of the race by any means despite the 10 point disadvantage in front of Premiership leaders Manchester City. The Blues managed to defeat City, but the draw against Wigan correlated with City’s win over Arsenal brought them to square one.
“It is frustrating for everyone and it is important that we bounce back, which we will.
“We have done that in the last few weeks when we have had difficult games and we have stepped up, and we will step up in the next game and continue to fight for the Premier League.
“It is the best league in the world because every team in the top six can win it. We are one of them and I believe we can.
“There are still five months to go and I think people would be stupid to assume Chelsea are out of the title race. We are going to fight to the very last game.”
“I am happy with how it is going personally but collectively for me is more important and I would have loved to have come away with three points and I hadn’t have scored,” he added.
“I thought we would win the game but we were unlucky, and I am certainly going to be working as hard as I can to make sure we win every game. We need to keep clean sheets and we need to score more goals.
“We are a close unit and Saturday was just a bad day for us because we conceded a late goal, but we performed well and we will come back stronger the next game, we will make sure we will fight harder the next game and make sure we don’t concede late goals.”
Chelsea is likely to continue to fight for the title, but at the moment only a miracle could stop City from winning the title. They will have the benefit of playing against all the big Premiership clubs at home in the return leg except for Arsenal and they are now virtually impossible to stop.
