With Chelsea languishing in 14th position on the Premier league table, they will have to make brisk deals in the January transfer market so as to salvage their capitulated season.
Argentina international and Boca junior player Jonathan Calleri is high on the transfer wish list of Chelsea but they may be outdone by Tottenham who are understood to have tracked the player when he travelled to Italy for some paper works, this is according to reports.
Having scored 10 goals and providing 26 assist, Calleri has been tipped as one of the next big players to come out of South America but Chelsea are in pole position for his signature despite the player being coveted by Inter Milan, Juventus and Tottenham.
The players father confirmed to Calciamercato that Inter Milan is keenly interested but he did not mention the name of the English club in the want of the player.
“Right now, I am dealing with the future of Joni, there is no other person in charge,” he said. “Inter in pole position? Let’s say it [is] one [of] the two clubs interested. It’s a team that we really like. The other is an English club.”
