As the summer transfer window nears, José Mourinho will be looking to lock up some key signatures, and raise the funds for the moves. Chelsea needs to add depth, a weakness we saw after the early Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Three transfers that Chelsea can make in the first two weeks of the transfer window are…
- Antoine Griezmann
One of the most exciting moves in the news involving Chelsea, Antoine Griezmann looks to be a lock on his way to Stamford Bridge. With Financial Fair Play rules in relax this summer, Chelsea could swoop in and activate the Frenchman’s release clause for £43.5million. Griezmann can play on the wing, as an attacking midfielder, or as a striker. His versatility is something that will make Mourinho drool over, and he would turn Chelsea’s attack into one of the most deadly in Europe.
- Petr Čech
Hopefully Chelsea does everything they can to hold on to their storied goalkeeper, but it looks like his departure is imminent at this point. He has been linked to Arsenal, Beşiktaş, and AS Roma. Hopefully Mourinho doesn’t sell to a rival, and Čech can finish his career up at his club of choice. Čech has done wonders for our club, and whatever lucky club lands his signature will be blessed with one of the greatest goalkeepers of all-time. Chelsea could probably get something around £10million for Čech.
- Robert Green
If Čech is to leave Stamford Bridge, then Chelsea will need to purchase a new goalkeeper to backup Thibaut Courtois. Robert Green would be a good signing, because he will understand that he will not play in front of Courtois, but his job is to push him in training. Green is 35 years old, and has plenty of experience in the Premier League, and he also made more than 200 appearances for the English international team. Green is no Čech, but he is a suitable reserve goalkeeper. Green would be very cheap due to his age, and would only cost about £700,000.
Chelsea is in for an interesting summer, but these three moves would be logical to kick off the transfer window.
