Torres on World Club Cup: Chelsea "being a favourite means nothing"

Chelsea will take centre stage at the World Club Cup this month, and Fernando Torres claims Chelsea being the bookmakers favourite means nothing.

Torres Said: “To me, being a favourite means nothing. The only thing that can bring is more pressure. Ultimately, whether or not someone is a favourite, we must prove it on the field.”

The Blues could face Corinthians in the final of the competition if they win the semi-final and Torres praised the quality of their players.

“We saw the match against Santos in the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores and some other games. They have excellent players, as always is the case with the Brazilian clubs.”

“If they face Chelsea, the whole world will be watching them play and they have the opportunity to come to Europe. It’s a great opportunity for them, while for us it’s very dangerous.”

Torres should be too busy working on his game to be giving interviews to the Brazilian press, but I suppose its too late for that…

I was looking forward to this tournament, in the hope of seeing Chelsea pick up a trophy they had never competed for previously, and in the hope of seeing some of the best unknown players from around the world.

Chelsea really need to win tomorrow night to give us a much needed boost before the WCC begins in just over a weeks time. I think the trip to Japan might just work out to be the perfect distraction to get Chelsea back on track!
