The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was the man that first discovered a young Nicolas Anelka when he bought him for just £500,000 as an 18 year-old rookie, and the Frenchman is pleased that Anelka is truly fulfilling his promise at Chelsea.
“He is in very good form and has been given more and more credit.
“He was very much in the spotlight when he was at Arsenal the first time but then lost his way when he went out of the spotlight. He is now fulfilling the potential that he showed when he won the League as an 18 year old and he is now where everyone thought he would be.”
When asked whether Arsenal will be able to beat Anelka’s new team he said simply: “We don’t want to talk about them too much, we have enough in our locker to beat anyone in the world.”
As Wenger pointed out earlier this week, a win against Chelsea would put them in prime position to overtake the Blues at the top of the Premiership.
“We have played two more games than Chelsea away from home, and we have a game in hand on them, so it is not as bad as it looks.” he said.
