Who Is Left For Chelsea To Target?

Throughout the summer Chelsea have been linked with every player in world football it would seem, but what about the players that are looking for moves that they have yet to target. Here are three midfielders that could all offer a lot to Chelsea.

Wesley Sneijder is the first name on the list. He has had success at club level and helped Real Madrid to the La Liga title in his first season there. In his first season at Inter Milan he helped them win the Serie A title and then they went on to win the Champions League. On the down side he has extremely high wage demands, and he only played 25 games last season as he struggled with injury.

What about Juan Mata of Valencia. Arsenal have yet to make a formal bid for the Spanish star, and Spurs are also reported to be interest in signing him. If it comes down to a bidding war Chelsea would be able to top any price that they could both offer, and it seems strange that they have not declared any public interest. He has plenty of pace, but more importantly he is only 22 and would certainly be one for the future.

Finally what about Samir Nasri of Arsenal. Surely one of the most improved players in the Premier League last season, and he is one that could offer plenty to Chelsea. He is refusing to sign a new contract at Arsenal, so he would be available at a cheaper price than most as the Gunners would not want him to leave for nothing once his contract runs out. He has attracted lots of interest from both Manchester clubs, but the same old problem arises that Arsenal would most probably not sell to a title rival.

Just three names then that would all fit in to the Chelsea squad, but if you sat down and went through every club in Europe we could all come up with literally 100’s of players. Who’d be a manager?

I don’t agree with Sneider because of those huge wage demands AND for the price to bring him in he is the wrong age. With his injury problems of last season I can see him being a bit of a sicknote in the Premiership.
Having watched Chelsea’s Asia games it seems to me that we STILL have the problem of true width up front which has not, to date, been addressed. I think Turan would definately offer us something we don’t already possess. I’d love Eden Hazard but realistically he is not wanting to move. Moutinho from Porto must also be considered as I cannot see Yossi Benayoun seeing out a whole season without injury or loss of form. ‘If’ we go into the new season without any new signings I cannot see this squad winning the Premiership. Man City have now got the squad equal to that of the Ranieri and Mourinho squads. The one big thing in AVB’s favour for this squad is that he seems to have a much better idea and is prepared to change things around on the pitch which Ancelotti didn’t do. We’ve had some good results on tour so far but I am not convinced that against top opposition like United and City we would have got away with it. Please, please, please Roman get a top class winger in and a playmaker to give this squad a chance of silverwear next term.

A Chelsea revival will require more than a new manager; Chelsea must sign some young stars. A number of the ‘thirty-something’ players are off the pace and despite their last performance the team is clearly lacking players that can consistently open up defences and set up strikers. Chelsea cannot hope to compete with Man Utd and Barcelona in this state. We must stop thinking that Drogba, Lampard, Anelka, Malouda, and Terry can make the difference. They used to, but can’t anymore. There is a whole new generation of stars out there that have a lot more agility. Look what Barcelona did to Man Utd; do we seriously stand a chance against them with aging players? Come on AVB we have to move in the market!!

Snieldjer? Come on, that‘s a joke. I see him as a wrong traget by united and like essien and lampard, his best days are behind him. We need a skilful playmaker as lampard could not break united defence on three matches to create chances for toress. While many are desperate to conclude on toress‘s goal drought, no one has been able to ask how many chances does lampard create for strikers per match. I love lampard and i want him to stay and develop younger players but modric is the answer to our attacking midfield problem. We need skilful winger to add width and enable us change formation without making a lion out of lamb.
