This summer is a crucial period for Chelsea to address some crucial points within their team that will transform them from the nearly team in England to the top team in England. According to Sky Sports they have already started the process of launching a move to sign Atletico Madrid star Koke, whilst Fabregas is also an option.
It is clear to everyone that Fabregas’ preferred destination of choice is the Emirates. Having built his career there, developing a close bond with the fans and Arsene Wenger it seems that Cesc Fabregas would not move back to England unless it was to Arsenal. Indeed he stated, “if one day I leave Arsenal, I will never sign for another English team, quite sure” and the fact that Arsenal have a first refusal clause could prove pivotal in the deciding on where Fabregas will end up.
In addition to this, Cesc Fabregas has not only a tumultuous relationship with current Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, there is bad blood between him and many of the Chelsea players he came up against, such as Chelsea legend and officially former player Frank Lampard. Cesc would clearly have much making up to do if he were to sign for Chelsea.
This is why Koke, of Atletico Madrid seems a better and more viable option for Chelsea FC. Playing in the central midfield role rotating between central and central attacking midfield, he can be viewed as the natural replacement of Frank Lampard. No bad blood exists between the player and the club and indeed Chelsea and Atletico Madrid seem to have built up a rapport with one another with the current dealings with Diego Costa and ThibautCourtois. What must also be understood is that unlike the great established teams such as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid have always been a club that have to consider the financial perspective of every move they make and this may play a crucial factor in bringing Koke to the bridge.
Whatever the outcome, there is no denying that either players ability wouldn’t be crucial to Chelsea next season in a position where ability is much needed after the recent departure of Frank Lampard. Current reports suggest that Barcelona are now odds on favourite to sign Koke whilst Chelsea are odds on for Fabregas, however, only time will tell who will end up at the Bridge.
