Wilkins – Chelsea players happy with Ancelotti's rotation system

The Chelsea assistant manager (and interpreter) Ray Wilkins, says that there will be changes for tonights League Cup match against Blackburn, but insists the players understand the reasons behind Carlo Ancelotti’s rotations, and are more than happy to accept his decisions.

“It’s an either-or,” Wilkins says. “If some of the guys don’t actually get on the pitch then that become slightly difficult as well. It becomes a sort of Catch 22, but the rotation decisions Carlo has made have been first class.

“We all train together and instead of some of the lads having to stay behind and do extra work, they are getting games now. That is important, they need game time. If they don’t get game time then they have the possibility of picking up injuries when they do come in.

“Michael Ballack was not left out at Arsenal, he was rested,”

“We have to rest everybody and Michael will be fresh for the game at Blackburn now. The players have all accepted it with no problem whatsoever.”

With all the crucial games coming up, it was inevitable that Ancelotti would rest a lot of first team players for tonight, but he did the same thing in the last round against Bolton, and Chelsea still won 4-0. It just shows what great strength and depth Chelsea have in this squad.
