Zhirkov Heads Home To Russia

Last week we brought you the news that Yuri Zhirkov was all set to leave Chelsea and move back to Russia, well over the weekend the deal has been completed and Zhirkov is now a Anzhi Makhachkala player.

Zhirkov has signed a four year contract with the Russian Premier League side, and it looks as though he will get his wish to play regular first team football, something that he never really achieved at Chelsea for one reason or another.

The deal rumoured to be in the region of £13million, though no figures have officially been made public as yet, has come just at the right time for Chelsea as over the course of the weekend they have announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

Andre Villas-Boas thanked Zhirkov for the service he gave to Chelsea, and spoke after the game against Glasgow Rangers at the weekend saying. “In the end it was mostly his decision. It was a great financial offer for him, it is a return home for him.”

Zhirkov may not have played much during his time at Stamford Bridge, but no-one will ever forget his goal against Spartak Moscow last year, a left footed volley from 25 yards. Everybody here at Just Chelsea News wishes Yuri Zhirkov all the best at his new club.

Anelka is leaving on a Bosman at the end of the season so I can see him being phased out this season to be replaced by Sturridge. Kalou I would like to see moved on as he doesn’t finish enough of the opportunities that he gets.

Now it is a time for Anelka, Ferreila and even bosingwa to leave the club and paved the way for new talented players
