Aguero confirms Atletico stay

As if it wasn’t obvious anyway, after Sergio Aguero had played for Atletico Madrid in their Champions League Qualifier against Panathiniakos, the Argentinian star confirmed after the game that he was not going to leave Madrid and never wanted to in the first place.

The rumours have been flying about that Chelsea were close to making an agreement with his club, but that speculation will have to go back on hold until next summer now.

“I’ve always said I wanted to stay at Atletico and this is what has happened,” Aguero said.

“I am very happy for the goal, but especially for the triumph.”

His club carry a 3-2 advantage through to the second leg of the Champions League Qualifier, so there is still a chance that we may see Aguero at Stamford Bridge next season, but only playing for our opponents!
