The transfer market is sometimes conducted in a very mysterious, cloak and dagger sort of way. There are leaks, rumours, denials and, until a deal is finalised, there is no way of really knowing what is happening. Having said that, there is usually no smoke without fire.
Rumours have it that Chelsea are in pole position to capture 20-year old midfield sensation Oscar from Internacional in Brazil. Tottenham are known to be keen on the young Brazilian international but Roman Abramovich is ready to disappoint Andres Villas-Boas again.
Giovanni Luigi is president of the Brazilian club and has told reporters that they have not, contrary to claims, received an offer of nearly £20 million from Chelsea. He claims to have been contacted by an unnamed club but “it wasn’t an offer, it was more like an enquiry. We are only saying that the numbers have to change.”
In transfer dealings, that is a pretty positive statement and will give encouragement to Chelsea. Oscar is expected to star for Brazil at the upcoming Olympic games in London and the Blues will be keeping a close eye on him. Hopefully the young star will get a taste for London during the games and he could be back soon.
Hopefully we can rap up the Oscar deal soon and we can see him in a Chelsea shirt next season. Good player and would fit nicely in the Chelsea squad.
