Carvalho joins Real Madrid for £6.7m!

The Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has joined Real Madrid today for a fee of £6.7m this morning, it has been revealed on the Blues official website.

“Chelsea can confirm it has agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Carvalho,” the statement said.

“The transfer is subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms. Chelsea would like to thank Riccy for his six years of service, and we wish him well in his future career.”

A statement on the Real Madrid’s website also confirmed the deal: “Best known for his perfect positioning, his foresight and his ability to advance the ball out of the first third, Ricardo Alberto Silveira Carvalho joins Real Madrid at the age of 32 and with 19 titles to speak of.”

Just two days ago Jose Mourinho blatantly said that he would not be buying the Portugese international, but it seems he was telling porkies! Mourinho said: “Ricardo is a good player, but he is at an age that, if somebody is looking to build a team for the future, he cannot think of him,”

“Ricardo belongs to the current moment. He is a man with a great professional and private life, so he has no problem when it comes to playing at a high level at the age of 32.”

Perhaps Mourinho isn’t building a “team for the future” now…………….
