It has been confirmed that Chelsea have agreed to pay €25 million for Benfica’s highly-rated Brazillian who can play as a centre back, full back and even a holding midfielder.
In addition to the €25 million, Chelsea are also giving Nemanja Matic to Benfica to reach their demands. Benfica had wanted Van Aanholt or Bruma but were told that they were not for sale.
The Telegraph reported today: ‘Ancelotti will be delighted when Luiz finally arrives at Chelsea, where he is expected to partner John Terry in the continued absence of injured Alex. He could even make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Everton.’
There will be a work permit hearing today, ahead of David Luiz’s move which was approved late on Monday by the board at Benfica.
