Chelsea favourites for £40m superstar midfielder
The Lille and Belgium midfielder Eden Hazard has been variously linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in recent times, and the young Belgian has finally announced that he will be moving away from France this summer.
It was reported that the newly-rich PSG were offering €50m to poach Hazard from their Ligue 1 rivals, but Hazard himself has stated that he will not strengthen one of Lille’s biggest competitors.
He said: “I feel ready to make it to the next level in a great club,”
“I stayed in Lille this season because there were still things I had to work on, things to prove. But now, I’m ready.”
“Paris is not for now. After France, I want to go abroad.”
Only last week, the Lille academy director Jean-Michel Vandamme admitted that Chelsea were favourites in a bidding war next summer that could start as high as £40m.
“Eden is certainly willing to stay at Lille at least until next summer.” he said.
“Chelsea has been following him the closest. The Spaniards have not manifested themselves yet, but I think they are playing it smart and will call when they know they have to – I’m talking about Real Madrid, but also about Barcelona.
“The buyer will have to come up with a lot of money – let us say he is not currently to go for less than £40m.”
Andre Villas-Boas has already stated that he needs more midfielders at Stamford Bridge, and with Luka Modric looking unlikely, you couldn’t get a better replacement than Eden Hazard!

chris i agree with u 100%.. Chelsea need such players whos got the abillity to play ball, great vision, n eye for a goal, varsetile n passing abillity… So jovetic?yes! Modric?yes!hazzard?yes! To add, marin?yes! Ganso?yes!hamsik?yes! De bruyen?yes, i saw this kid play n his vision, technical abillity n passing are impressive!..
I agree..get Hazard, get Hamsik, replace Bosingwa with vd Wiel, kick Kalou, kick Anelka, Drogba’s time is up and then maby get another great young striker like Jovetic. Up Chelsea. And regarding all the fans’ outburst towards Villas Boas after our resent disaster against Arse and Anal…what he’s doing is good,let’s not turn against him…but yes he does need to work on our defence, we just mustn’t defend so risky, just lower the line,and don’t spread the defence so wide which leaves gaps between our two centre backs!
