Chelsea are on the lookout for a quality midfield player, we all know that, and we also know that a lot has been made of their interest in Scott Parker and Luka Modric, but today they may turn their attention elsewhere, and that is to Italy and Roma.
The player in question this time is the Italian International Daniele De Rossi, who has yet to sign a new contract for his club side Roma. He still has one year left on his current contract, but Roma may be forced to sell De Rossi if they cannot persuade him to sign a new deal.
Chelsea may face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City as they are also looking to strengthen their midfield, but Roma manager Luis Enrique does not want to lose Di Rossi and when asked about the possibility of losing his midfielder he had the following to say. “He is very important for my plans and it would be impossible to find a replacement for him in the current market.”
Di Rossi may well stay at Roma and see out his contract, and then he would be allowed to move for free. Should Chelsea want to make a move now they may well have to pay in the region of £15million for the Italian International, but they may well see that as a bargain as they step up their search for a replacement for the injured Michael Essien.
I dont understand why chelsea are lookng 2 replace essein. They may as wel sell both essien and mikel then buy a new holdng mid whos realy good lyk makelele was.. What about luiz tho? I think he can play there! His quick to close people down ‘tho his kind of clumsy’ but he can break down the oponents play further out the box.. The guy’s go good feet and can pass the ball. For a Cb, CHELSEA mus get gary cahill, his lyk da quicker younger terry version…
