Atletico Madrid’s central defender Diego Godin spoke about a possible transfer to Chelsea in January in an interview. According to the Uruguayan defender he is ready to accept any interest coming from Stanford Bridge even though he is very attached to his current club.
“If there is interest from Chelsea, I will study it,” the defender told Goal.com
“At the moment, there is nothing. For now I am at Atletico Madrid and I am not thinking of anything else. There is nothing official.”
“I owe a lot to Atletico and I cannot say that I would like to play for another team. I have great respect [for Atletico], a contract and the team have given me everything,”
The 25-year-old Uruguayan joined Madrid in 2010 coming from Spanish side Villareal. He has become a regular at Athletico Madrid, and Chelsea was reportedly interested in the defender last January, but the deal didn’t go through.
