Chelsea now favourites to sign David Silva!

The biggest bit of Chelsea transfer news this morning is the report that the Blues are now favourites over Man City to sign the brilliant Valencia and Spain star David Silva.

It is thought that, although Man City could certainly offer Silva a bigger paypacket, Chelsea can offer him the chance to play Champions League football, and possibly even win it!

Silva’s agent, Amadeo Rengel, said yesterday, “The option of Chelsea is the most interesting in terms of the sporting project.”

It has been widely reported that Valencia have been slipping further and further into financial trouble, and although they have raised £40m by selling David Villa to Barcelona, the Valencia president Manuel Llorente admitted they may still need to sell Silva to balance the books.

“We have received calls about Silva but no concrete offers.” he said.

“Right now nothing is out of the question because we need to safeguard the future of the club.”

Silva is already a top star, and as he is just 24 years old he ticks all Abramovich’s boxes. He would be a brilliant “marquee” signing, and an excellent replacement for Joe Cole……
