Chelsea now hot favourites to sign Lukaku
Chelsea Manager Andre Villas-Boas had previously stated that any business in the transfer market would be completed when he returns from the clubs pre-season tour, but all that has changed now as they have made a formal bid for Romelu Lukaku.
The 18 year-old Belgium International had been linked with a possible move to Arsenal and Manchester City, but it now looks as though he will be on his way to Stamford Bridge in a move that could cost Chelsea around £18million.
Lukaku is currently under contract at Anderlecht, until the end of 2013, where the striker has scored 31 goals in the last two seasons. The General Manager of Anderlecht is Herman van Holsbeeck and he has had the following to say regarding the matter. “There is still a long way to go in the negotiations. We are indeed negotiating with Chelsea, but there are other clubs we are talking to.”
If Lukaku moves to England and into the Premier League with Chelsea, the reported fee of around £18million would make him the second most expensive teenager in the leagues history behind a certain Wayne Rooney. Though a bid has been made it is unclear at present how much it is for, but one thing is certain should Lukaku bring his goal scoring form to Chelsea he will be worth every penny.

Really 1-0 against underdogs must creat a story. But we should hand this transfer market with alot of respect it deserves. If selling around 5 players is called radical changes then we are culprits coz we must offload some under performing players. Look at Drogba, Lampard, Malouda en to it worse, they can influence the whole team. When we can’t destroy teams like Malaisyian x1 when Arsenal en Liverpool are doing, then what message are those players sending to us fans en our opponents or should we keep like we’re dead? What we’re saying is simply let us sell en also buy fullstop. AVB was given full mandate of the team en he should not fear any player. If he says performance let him walk the talk en crack the whip on the under performing players. Otherwise we respect yu, we love yu but there’s a sense of urgency that is required in our team.
