Free-spending Chelsea are looking to bring Palermo’s attacking midfielder Javier Pastore to Stamford Bridge. The player, who is also wanted by Barcelona, Juventus and Inter can only be afforded by such clubs as the one bank-rolled by billionaire Roman Abramovich according to their president Maurizio Zamparini.
Zamparini told Tuttosport: “For me, he will end up in Spain or England, the only countries where the clubs can afford him. But if I am faced with a suitable offer, I will be ready to change my mind”.
Pastore has made 67 appearances for Palermo scoring 14 times and providing 10 assists since he made an $8 million move from Argentinian side Huracán. Since his first call up in 2010 he has also made 7 appearances for the Argentinian national team.
Roman Abramovich recently had to declare all his assets as part of his campaign for re-election as MP for Chukotka showing his worth to be £11 billion. Although he has tried to minimise spending on the Chelsea squad in the past few years it seems that the threat of dropping out of the top 4 has prompted him to start investing again. The signing of Fernando Torres and David Luiz being a clear sign of intent from the Russian billionaire.
