Chelsea set to raid Barcelona for young midfielder

Chelsea are in the middle of massive remodeling plans. With the release of Drogba and Kalou and the capture of Eden Hazard, things are well underway. Chelsea have no intention of stopping there, however, with talks ongoing with Porto aver Brazilian striker Hulk.

The latest target for Chelsea is Sergi Roberto. You may not have heard of him as he is inly just starting to break through into the Barcelona first team. This season the 20-year old midfielder has made four appearances for the Catalan club, but only one in La Liga. He scored in the Champion’s league and the Spanish domestic cup, but knows that it will be very hard to displace Xavi or Iniesta from midfield.

Andres Villas-Boas wanted to sign the youngster, according to Talksport, and the club have kept tabs on him since. Roman Abramovich is preparing a bid of around £6 million and will also offer Roberto more chance of first team football. He can be involved in the next stage of Chelsea from the start.

Former Chelsea player Salomon Kalou may be heading to the North East as Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is going to offer the striker a chance to stay in the Premier league. Schalke are also eager to sign the player, who is out of contract, and can offer him Champion’s league football next season
