Ron Gourlay, Chelsea’s CEO, claims that Chelsea could name the new manager over the next few weeks. The interim coach Roberto Di Matteo managed to guide the team to win the FA Cup and the club’s first UEFA Champions League title, after taking over from Andre Villas-Boas. However, it is unknown yet if the Italian will be given a full-time job as Chelsea’s manager.
Asked about when a new manager will be appointed, Ron Gourlay said: “Any time over the next couple of weeks and certainly by the time we go on tour.”
“The players report back on July 4th or 5th and in an ideal world you want the coach in position by then.”
On the other side, Ron Gourlay admitted that Di Matteo’s amazing results might drive the club’s decision towards him.
“It certainly would have made the discussions a bit different.”
“The fact that he has the Champions League on his CV helps him enormously.
“I know there has been speculation in the press and media about conversations with ‘XYZ’. That has not been the case.
“We will sit down as a board of directors with our owner as quickly as we can and take our decision from there. ”
“We are going through that process now and then we’ll sit down … it’s only been a couple of days”
No matter what Chelsea’s decision is going to be, the Blues face a very hard season, where they must try and defend their FA Cup and Champions League titles, and also try to win the Premier League, which is an objective season after season.
the best decision for Chelsea as a team is to keep Di Matteo for at least one season. To be fair to this young man as a one time player of the club and the best coach in the history of the club, who against all urge won the champions league for the club, should be given at least one year in charge of the club as Roman up till now seem not to be convince of his coaching credentials.this should not be difficult decision to make.
I think Di matteo must be given another chance, this young really improve him self since taking over
I am very grateful for Di Matteo’s successful stinct with Chelsea this past season. However, I will not also forget how those trophies won by the club were won under his reign as manager. Most of the matches we played were often characterized by 90 minutes of nervousness as the club seldom won convincingly. In any case, maybe it would be unfair to blame Di Matteo for the unenviable form Chelsea had this past season. Rather the players were perhaps more culpable. And thats why any manager that would be employed to the Club must subject her to a rationalistic and speedy transition. Di Matteo has done out standingly well and as such deserves to be given the reins of the club for atleast 2 seasons.
Chelsea dont know what they have until they loose it, they loosed Jose just like that, carlo ancelloti for noting, now they are playing with Robbie their aim now is to bring on Pep. i wich he go to Inter or Napoli and do well then chelsea wll regret loosing their club best manager ever then guardiola will fail or anyone. As a chelsea fan i wll be very very much happy to see robbie occupy d sit
I think RDM deserves d coaching job. He’s done what other managers couldnlt do in their reigns.I think Roman should give him a chance to prove his worth again in d club.Is wasn’t easy before he won those cups compared to other managers who couldn’t.I think he’s the best shot we have.UP RDM,UP CHELSEA
If he won’t be given d job,he shud b told instead of toasting d young coach around….Roman,RDM is a good material.Don’t let him slip off ur grasp,or else we stand a chance of losing an icon…UP BLUEZ
RDM should be added at least one season; as he did a great history for chelsea.
roman and other conceded that RDM was just lucky to won d two trophies which i strongly disagree wt,he shld d given at least a year contract to prove his worth rite but wt d financial backing.up blues
I would like to see Pep Guardiola in charge of Chelsea next season. If not him, then Laurent Blanc. Blanc has said that if a top European club made him an “exceptional offer” that he would consider going to them.
I say let’s chelsea g dat man 2 years extenation pls
Hulk is a gud striker 4 Di matteo cus i no d man we bilud a strong team 4 chelsea so let chelsea kep d man pls
No coach will ever deliver chelsea if dey miss dimato, giv him chance 2 continue what he hv stated
If Chelsea miss robbies Di matteo, their are going to regret it,I we adverse Chelsea should keep that young man.
“yeah, he deserved the job. There are circumstances where you’ll see the best man but not the best result…he has proved himself to be a legend ‘n’ we’ll probably get the best result from him”.
