There are some amazing reports this morning that the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has set his sights on the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. After securing Fernando Torres in January, Abramovich is looking to team him up with his fellow countryman at the Bridge.
Abramovich was reported last year as saying the two players he would love more than any others at Chelsea were the two Spaniards, and now that it looks like Barcelona can’t afford to meet Arsene Wenger’s asking price for Fabregas he thinks that he may now be able to get is wish.
Arsene Wenger said last week that there was no chance that he would sell Samir Nasri to Manchester United, but after selling Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor to Man City, it doesn’t mean that Wenger wouldn’t sell some of his top players to other Premiership rivals if the money is right.
With Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea all joining in the bidding, does it look less and less that Fabregas will get his wish to move to Barcelona? And don’t forget that Roberto Mancini named Cesc Fabregas as the one player he would want to ensure that Man City could win the Premiership as well……
