It has been reported today that Chelsea are in the process of offering Joe Cole a new contract worth £90,000 a week to make sure that the 27 year-old finishes his career at Stamford Bridge.
Cole has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham in the last few weeks despite just returning to training after a six-month lay off due to a serious knee injury.
But the Spurs manager Harry Redknapp denied having made an approach, although he is a strong admirer of the England winger. “Joe Cole is a fantastic player. He’s at Chelsea. Any team would like Joe, but he’s not even a player we’ve made a phone call over.” he said.
Cole is said to be the perfect player to head the diamond formation that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to make his standard system for home games this season, which would basically have Chelsea with three out-and-out strikers and would hopefully be the basis for an exciting spearhead and promises entertaining football.
Let’s hope that Joey recovers well and we can see him in action very soon.
