Turkish and Valencia midfielder Mehmet Topal might be in for the transfer of his life after Manchester City and Chelsea grew an interest in him and started to follow the Turk international.
According to The Mirror, the 25-year-old has a £8.5 million release clause in his contract, easy to meet by both Premier League clubs. The midfielder’s agent Batur Altiparmak declared:
“[Chelsea and Manchester City] have been watching him for two months now but I must stress there is nothing concrete from either club,” he told The International Business Times.
“We will reassess his future at the end of the season. He is happy in Valencia and has two and half years left on his contract.”
The Turkish midfielder who joined Valencia in 2010 from Galatasaray, became a very important part of the Spanish team and since 2008 he’s as well one of the first team players in the Turkish national squad.
A move to Chelsea or Manchester City would boost his career, but although the defensive midfielder has a lot of skill, he has a better chance of playing regularly at Chelsea.
