Chelsea transfer rumours June 9th – Srna, Ballack, Cole, Ibrahimovich and Schweinsteiger

I am still trying to come to terms with the latest bit of Chelsea transfer news. It is incredible that the Blues have allowed Joe Cole to leave on a free transfer, especially considering he is just about to become an even bigger star at the World Cup! I understand the club wanting to reduce the wage bill, but Cole is a very special talent. If he has fully recovered from his injuries he could come back to haunt us next season…

Michael Ballack has been released as well, but that is a little more understandable given his age. The Germany captain is reported to being wanted by Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid. We all know that when Ballack is fit, he is a formidable opponent. Let’s hope we don’t draw Real Madrid in the Champions League…….

Everybody is reporting that the signing of Dario Srna is now a done deal and should be announced by this weekend. I know he is very talented, but as we already have Bosingwa and Ivanovic in the attacking right-back position it is an enigma. Perhaps he will be played in midfield instead……..

It has been reported that Carlo Ancelotti and Zlatan Ibrahimovich stayed in the same hotel, and it was assumed that they had secret talks about him coming to Stamford Bridge. Personally I think that is also unlikely, given the attacking options we already have at our disposal. And if we won’t pay Joe Cole’s wage demands, what chance has Ibrahimovich got…….

The Mirror is saying that the Bayern Munich midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, is going to brought in to replace his Germany captain Michael Ballack. At eight years younger he certainly has the time and the capability of supplanting Ballack at Chelsea and Germany, but he is winning trophies galore at Bayern and I’m not sure if he would accept a move away from his homeland. When asked about the rumours yesterday, he refused to discuss the matter. “Right now I’m focusing solely on the World Cup. All the rest doesn’t interest me.” he said.

Let’s see how he performs at the World Cup shall we…….
