Di Matteo is backing his current Chelsea players

With no news about Hulk or any other new signings, Chelsea fans are wondering if ther will be any more movement in the transfer market this season. Roberto Di Matteo has moved to allay any fears by reminding fans that, with Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres, Chelsea already have two of the best players in the Premier league.

Because he was spotted in Los Angeles with David Beckham, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive with suggestions that 34-year old Lampard would be ending his career in America. The Chelsea boss is having none of it, however.

“Frank is a very fir man and can play for many years to come.” The injury that kept the Chelsea midfielder out of England’s Euro 2012 squad could be a real blessing for the Blues as he has had all summer to rest and recharge his batteries.

On the other hand, Torres’ Euro 2012 exploits could also benefit Chelsea. He has rediscovered his confidence and touch in front of goal and must surely be on ahigh after picking up another winner’s medal.

Di Matteo has said that none of his strikers can be sure of their starting place, but unless he breaks his leg then Torres is a sure bet to start up front at the beginning of next season.

“I am expecting him here in a good mood, to be buzzing and be very good next season.”

I still think we need a couple of players, primarily a right back and another striker, but we look like a team that can take on anybody. Di Matteo has got the tactical skills to adapt to whatever is thrown at us and the rest of England and Europe need to beware.

Come on you Blues

    Such a blinkered view point and one that eventually got AVB the sack last term. He was satisfied with his squad last summer and decided to go on the tour of Asia ‘to get to know’ his players rather than bid for the likes of Kun Aguero who had been linked with Chelsea for over two seasons! And before anyone shouts, Mata and Romeu were Chelsea club ‘deals’ lined up before AVB came in.
    If RDM were to follow the same patttern my guess is that he will be out of a job and sacked by Xmas. Torres cannot be expected to see out the Premiership season as our only real quality striker, FA Cup, Carling Cup and CL ffs! Lukaku is an inexperienced cart horse, Sturridge too selfish and up himself and there is no one else. Chelsea desperately need Hulk or another proven top rate goalscorer who can get 15 plus goals next term. If we don’t bring in another ‘main’ proven striker we will definately struggle throughout the course of the very busy and long season to close that 25 point gap to the Manchester clubs. There is a strong rumour in Spain that Barca are thinking of selling David Villa to free up funds and a squad place for RVP from Arsenal to join his old Arsenal club mate Fabregas. It may be very interesting for Roman Abramovich to think about linking Torres up with his old mate David Villa again especially as he supposedly promised Torres at the end of last season that he would be the clubs main striker next term. Forget what RDM says to the press, he is merely the coach. This new Chelsea team is being forged by Roman Abramovich through his many international friends and advisors, of that no one should have any doubts.

    RDM have not sign any player since his official appointment. If he think his current squad is ok he will be making a mistake. Many (3) players has been released and all were in his starting XI. Only two players that are in and one will be in the starting XI. If do the same mistake AVB did he will also end up the same way.

    drogba, anelka, kalou – gone;
    sturridge – going, not reliable even if he stays; malouda – i hope he does (not reliable even if he stays);
    lukaku – he is a zero!
    torres – you never know, 80% he will again be just a winger for us, hardly scoring; who the heck is going to score??
    we do not have strikers!!!!!
    RDM is crazy, what are you thinking?????????/

    RDM is a deep thinker and wiser. All he tries to do; deal with current status and doesn’t make much noise about the future. Players are not sold on a silver platter and a lot goes into play before a player is signed. Especially now that we have the FFP, a club like Chelsea needs to be more strategic.
    He said we will look into the market and make a couple of signings but I am not mentioning our target because anytime I do the price goes up. I was hoping this will enlighten Chelsea supporters….he didn’t mean he is fine by the current squad but rather he expressed his aspirations of building a much stronger team this summer with some few changes.
    The man prefers more action and less but deeper speeches.
    I am sure most of the guys who are talking a whole lot of bullsh*t about RDM already are very shallow plastic supporters of Chelsea.
    If you don’t have any reasonable contributions….Please stop lambasting. Thank you.
