Drogba, Fabregas and Rooney to fight it out for Player-of-the-Year

The Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been nominated for the PFA Player-of-the-Year award this season, which will be elected by the players themselves.

Wayne Rooney is the hot favourite for singlehandedly keeping Man Utd in the Premiership title race, but if Chelsea win the Double by the end of the season, surely Drogba will give him a run for his money.

Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the PFA, said: ‘When you talk about the best players in the world, Didier Drogba is a name on many people’s lips and with his strength, pace, ability and goalscoring skills, the Chelsea striker is different class,’.

‘The more he has matured, the better he has got.’

The injured Cesc Fabregas is definitely the most improved player in the young Arsenal side, and has earned a place in the line-up, but is more likely to win the Young-Player-of-the-Year award, where he is also up against Rooney.

The Man City striker Carlos Tevez is the fourth nominee for the coveted award, but i would make him the outsider of the quartet. Ladbrokes, however disagree and make him 10/1 second favourite behind Rooney.

I hope Wayne Rooney makes it back to full fitness before the World Cup – we’ll be lost without him 🙁
