After the match, Drogba said that the goal was the best one he’s scored this season so far. The goal against Bolton brought his tally up to 10.
‘It was a good ball in, won from good pressing [by the team] and I was in a good position so I took my chance,’ Drogba said.
‘You have to have the confidence to try if you want to score and the manager said to me to shoot more if I have the chance.’
The Ivorian admitted that perhaps he was trying too hard in previous games. ‘Maybe I was thinking too much, too many decisions at the same time.” he said. “This one I went straight for it. I wanted to shoot and I did it.’
Now Drogba has proved that it takes mental discipline and confidence to be successful in the footballing world, Chelsea are sure to take on their new-found confidence from the 4-0 win at Bolton and close the 10 point gap between them and current Premier League leaders, Manchester United.
