Fabio Capello has vowed to bring more youngsters into his new-look England side, and he certainly did that last night, especially with the three Arsenal youngsters, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Keiran Gibbs, who are all expected to play in big part in the England teams of the future.
Walcott, who is the veteran of the three despite being only 21, said after the game: “They have worked so hard,” he said. “They have such a fantastic manager behind them at Arsenal, and with England as well with Mr Capello who has given them that opportunity to express and show what they can do tonight.
“It was nice for Jack to get on at the end and have a little teaser for the next match hopefully to come.
“They have worked very hard and they both have very good futures ahead of themselves.”
Walcoot played the first 45 minutes, and he created the best chance of the half when he set up Johnson early in the game.
