Birmingham had a fantastic home record of just one defeat in 23 games until Arsenal came to visit last night. The Gunners played some excellent football to destroy their opponents 3-0 and are certainly looking like genuine title contenders.
Robin Van Persie scored the frst with an excellent, if disputable, free-kick, and when Sami Nasri doubled the Gunners lead it looked like Arsenal were cruising to victory. The third (own goal by Johnson) came thanks to some Keystone Kops defending by the Birmingham back line, but the match was already over by then.
With Man Utd and Man City both also taking the three points yesterday, the pressure is now on Chelsea to do the same in todays home game against Aston Villa.
