Lampard – Onwards and Upwards!

Chelsea became only the fourth team in the Champions League ever to recover from a two-goal deficit in the first leg, and the Blues midfielder Frank Lampard is sure this augurs well for the new-found confidence since Andre Villas-Boas was sacked a couple of weeks ago.

“It’s an absolutely huge win for us.” Lampard says. “It was crucial that whatever the result, we produced a performance to stay in the competition. We can really build on this now and hopefully move onwards and upwards.”

John Terry also agreed that it was an excellent result for the team and shows that their season is far from over. “We showed what Chelsea are all about.” he said. “We were solid and resilient and fought until the very end. We’ve proved we’re a team. Players came in and we stuck together when it really mattered,”

There will be many happy Chelsea fans around this morning, and they kept the British interest in the competition alive after the exits of Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs. Now we just want to avoid a trip to Spain in the next round…..
