Roy Hodgson has had a difficult start to his Liverpool career with just one point from games against Arsenal and Man City. He was expected to make amends against newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion and with Fernando Torres back in the team it should have been easy for the Reds.
Robert Di Matteo was quite pleased with his team, despite losing to a Torres blaster. “Big disappointment. I thought we put in a very good performance today and kept them very quiet.” he said.
“We were very organised and they needed a piece of quality from Torres to score a goal.
“We had enough people at the back to cope with the situation but they found him and it was a piece of quality to score.
“It was a good performance from our team, coming to Anfield it is a tough place to come. They have a lot of good players but I thought we faced them and we played our football as well.
“We could have been a bit more convincing in front of goal, we had a couple of chances, but they didn’t have money and it’s just a shame that we gave that goal away.”
