The fight for the coveted fourth place in the Premiership came to a climax last night as Man City hosted Tottenham, with the winners guaranteed a Champions League Qualifying place next season.
Moneybags Man City failed to rise to the occasion, but Tottenham remained calm and continued their attacking style which has got them so far this season.
It was a tight but entertaining game although it remained 0-0 until deep into the second half. Peter Crouch missed a sitter with 10 minutes to go and it looked like the points were going to be shared, but just a couple of minutes later he pounced on a reaction save from stand-in keeper Martin Fulop, and his header couldn’t miss this time. This win means that Tottenham will be the third London team in the Champs League next season alongside Chelsea and Arsenal.
Watch out for the mad celebrations by the visiting players and fans when the ref blows the whistle!
