The Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted before the Community Shield that Chelsea were far from ready to start the Premiership season, but the makeshift team played quite well considering, but Man Uniteds defending was equal to the task.

Chelsea actually played quite well but they squandered every chance that came their way, despite being totally in control for the whole of the second half. The Blues looked much more dangerous once Didier Drogba came on for the last 20 minutes, but all-in-all Alex Fergusons team defended stoutly and fully deserved the trophy in the end. Even Dimitar Berbatov managed to finally score a skillful goal!
