There were many rumours that Chelsea were among the suitors for the French genius Franck Ribery during the summer, and today the Batern Munich boss Ulli Hoeness has confirmed that Chelsea made the “best bid” for the midfield star, but it still fell short of their crazy 100m euro valuation.
“We never received an offer over €100m,” Hoeness said. “The best bid game from Chelsea: €65m plus Bosingwa.”
“We also received other offers of €76 and €80m.”
Hoeness also denied that Ribery had demanded a transfer, as was rumoured at the time.
“He never came to us and said he wanted to leave at any price,”
“He always said to us that he would like to move to Real Madrid, but that if we wanted to keep him, then it was not a problem. Selling him was never a real consideration.
“However, we want to create the conditions which give Franck the feeling that he can achieve something here in Munich.
“If he cannot see this potential, then he will leave.”
With Bayern Munich just one game away from elimination in the Champions League, and a lowly 8th postion in the Bundesliga, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of “potential” in Munich at the moment. What will Ribery’s thoughts be next summer if Munich don’t qualify for next season’s Champions League?
Chelsea WILL buy Aguero for £35m in January!
Ancelotti – Kakuta is the very best for his age
Ancelotti – Respect the ref or get punished!
Moyes – No Chelsea offer for Rodwell
Ferguson – We will catch Chelsea
Free Entry Football Tipping Competition – 250+ monthly prizes totalling over £3,000!
Right now,I’d rather we keep Bosingwa and the €65m,mr Ribery isn’t worth that much.
