Pirlo: No dirty tricks on Chelsea, Juve will play to win
Andrea Pirlo is determined to kill off Chelsea’s hopes of being the first team to successfully defend the Champions League on Wednesday night.
A win or a draw for Juventus against Shakhtar Donetsk will send holders Chelsea out of the competition.
The Blues’ only hope is a Shakhtar win in Ukraine coupled with a Stamford Bridge victory over Group E whipping boys Nordsjaelland.
Juve playmaker Pirlo, said: ‘I’m sorry for Chelsea fans but the next thing they know they will be saying goodbye to the Champions League.
‘If they go out it won’t only be because of what happens tomorrow.
‘We have been superior to Chelsea and beating them 3-0 was a key moment.’
Pirlo has also ruled out any dirty tricks to send Chelsea packing.
He added: ‘If anyone believes that Juve and Shakhtar have agreed to tie then they are mistaken.
‘The difference between finishing first or second is great in terms of the knockout draw. So our motivation to beat Donetsk couldn’t be greater.’
It has been a fear that Juve would attempt to play out a stale-mate, and if no goals come in the first hour, then the teams are almost guaranteed to sit back. Chelsea have to concentrate on getting a win regardless, and that is no easy task considering the current battle with form we have been having. Chelsea need to get their heads out of the ground and come up fighting. Do we still expect Juve to play out a draw?
I’m a Chelsea supporter,but I will never pray for miracle to take place in this game,whatever they get is what they Chelsea deserved,you don’t waste your opportunity and then turn to pray for your friend or even an opponent to do the same so that you’ll ride on their backs.Don’t get me wrong I’m real Chelsea support but I’m seriously disappointed that they let the two opportunities to get at least a draw from their two away matches between Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus to pass them by,now you’re asking for miracle to take place in this game? No I won’t waste my time asking for that,whatever result they get in this match is exactly what they deserved!
Yes,I’m saying this because I’ve a very close friend of mine who does exactly this,he is a die hard Arsenal supporter,when Arsene Wenger sold all his top players and began to lose or draw every match they played, this friend of mine would then resort to praying that other top teams would get the same results in their games so that they won’t create a big gap between them and his darling team.What a bad way of supporting your team my friend!!!
I totally agree that Chelsea deserve what they get it Juve and Shakhtar go through. They have been abysmal in the whole campaign, acting like its their prerogative to go through. With this attitude, playing in the round of 16 will be suicide. It’s pointless.
