The transfer of the Chelsea defender Alex across London to QPR is far from certain to go through despite the two clubs agreeing a transfer fee.
A couple of days ago Mark Hughes seemed confident that the deal would go through when he said: “Talks are progressing. I spoke to the boy yesterday about what we are trying to do here.
“It’s a big decision. Things have to fall into place to get a deal over the line.”
The big thing that hasn’t fallen into line is the fact that Alex currently earns 60,000 a week at Stamford Bridge, which is a very high wage at Loftus Road and they are baulking at paying that amount to the 29 year-old.
With the news that Hughes is also talking to Man City’s Nedum Onuoha, there is a possibility that the deal could fall through completely. Although I would have thought that Onuoha would also expect that sort of wages as well after coming from City….
